In a video that the club released on Friday, April 7, a host of the team's women players, led by skipper Diani Kididiatou, displayed banners with messages of solidarity to Rwandans as part of joining them in honouring more than a million of Tutsi victims killed 29 years ago.
“Each year, we stand together with Rwanda to remember the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi, to honour the memory of more than one million lives lost and to pay tribute to the strengths and courage of the survivors," the banners read in the video.
“Twenty-years after, Rwanda is a beacon of resilience, growth, progressiveness and a testament of the enduring spirit of humanity," they further state.
Rwanda has been PSG’s official tourism partner since 2019. The deal provides visibility opportunities showcasing Rwanda and 'Visit Rwanda' on backdrop banners and stadium installations, ‘Visit Rwanda’ on the women’s team as well as the training kits for men.
Other brand visibility opportunities include a week-long display of Rwandan brands at the club’s stadium.
Through the existing Paris Saint-Germain Academy in Rwanda, the deal is also extended to football development in the country with avenues to nurture and mentor emerging talents.
