This 12-year-old student, currently in sixth grade, shares that he views music not as a distraction from his studies but as a passion he carefully balances alongside academics. Speaking to InyaRwanda, Shooter said: “It doesn’t interfere with my studies because music has its own dedicated time, just like academics have theirs.”
Shooter's first song titled “Darling” emerged from a heartfelt love story written from an artist’s perspective. Through deeply emotional lyrics, he aims to create songs that resonate profoundly with listeners. With the backing of his management team and fans, the song was released, marking the beginning of his inspiring musical journey.
After the song’s release, Shooter dove into promotional efforts that connected him to influential artists within the industry.
One of those key connections was Juda Kuberwa, a respected artist Shooter met during his promotions. After sharing his aspirations with Juda, Shooter proposed the idea of collaborating on a song. Their strong teamwork turned his vision into reality, creating a polished track.
Although young, Shooter’s entry into music follows a well-established trend. Globally, many household names began their careers early, evolving into iconic figures over time.
Internationally, legends like Justin Bieber shot to stardom at age 13, Billie Eilish started her music journey at 13, winning prestigious awards later, while Willow Smith made waves at just 10 years old. These success stories inspire young talents to aim high.
In Rwanda, artists such as Young Grace—who launched her career in secondary school—Lil G, and other youthful talents carved out impressive paths in music. Their stories give hope and confidence in the potential that Shooter carries.
Shooter’s resilience and passion for music reflect his determination to pursue his dreams. “I aim high and hope to achieve tremendous success,” he said, showcasing his optimism for the future.
Neg the General, Shooter’s relative and an established rapper, shared his pride in Shooter’s commitment to music. “It’s wonderful to see my relative step into music, and I know he will carry forward our musical legacy,” Neg G remarked.
Shooter emphasized that his sixth-grade studies pose no interference with his thriving music career.
Ngenzi Serge [Neg G the General] continued to express his excitement for Shooter’s promising entry into the music scene.
