The Kamahwa Food Court launch brought together entertainment lovers for a celebration that highlighted the growing popularity of Virunga Silver beer. Renowned for its distinctive taste, this beer is crafted with 100% malt and no added sugar, featuring Citra hops for a refreshing flavor—ideal for sunny days.
SKOL Brewery also showcased its other beer varieties, Virunga Gold and Virunga Mist, which received a warm welcome from attendees.
Adding a dynamic vibe to the event were Active8 DJs, including DJ Nicolas Peks, DJ Fistom, DJ Kevin Klein, DJ Ninny, and DJ Smooth Kriminal. They headlined "Sound Check," a monthly concert series inspired by AfroHouse—a genre rooted in Rwandan culture and broader African music.
Kamahwa has established itself as a unique, eco-friendly venue, attracting individuals who value culture and nature. This open space encourages social interaction, sustainable business practices, and offers a tranquil environment for fostering connections.
Gildas Nsanzubukire, founder and CEO of Active8, emphasized Kigali's broadening entertainment scene. He expressed, “The future of entertainment isn’t limited to partying spaces. Kamahwa fosters connections, creativity, and environmental conservation. SKOL's collaboration with us blends sports, music, and human interactions into one unified experience.”
Nsanzubukire added, “Kamahwa is for everyone—a home for AfroHouse and local artistry. While we welcome international talent, our focus is nurturing and showcasing Rwanda’s rich musical and cultural heritage. It’s a space for music enthusiasts and fans of products celebrating Rwandan culture.”
SKOL’s Virunga line demonstrates its commitment to providing high-quality beers that stand out. Kamahwa's opening marked a major milestone in solidifying the brewery’s relationship with its customers.
For beer lovers, Virunga beers are widely available in bars, packaged in cartons containing 24 bottles of 33cl each—priced at 800 Rwandan Francs per bottle.
Beyond entertainment, Kamahwa doubles as a marketplace offering Rwandan art and crafts rooted in the country’s culture and history. It’s a platform to promote a culture-driven economy and preserve Rwanda’s heritage for future generations.
Professional model Salah Legrand, a contributor to Kamahwa’s launch, shared his journey of fulfilling his childhood dream. With a passion for crafting accessories, he honed his skills in Brussels, Belgium, leading him to establish his brand, K’TSOBE. The name is inspired by his maternal lineage, the Abatsobe family.
Legrand noted, “My creations are inspired by my Rwandan and Belgian roots, international cultures encountered during my travels, and environmental considerations. Through these, my goal is to create pieces that express emotions and identity while supporting Rwandan traditions, especially through imigongo designs.”
Kamahwa serves as a hub where music, food, culture, and beverages converge into a lively experience. It is the perfect destination for anyone seeking Rwandan cultural festivals infused with authentic values.
