Prince Eric Munezero, famously known as "Vex Prince," is an emerging Rwandan Afrobeat artist captivating audiences with his vibrant sound and compelling lyrics. Based in Kigali, Rwanda, his hit tracks “Wahala” and “Money” have each accrued over a million views, showcasing his growing influence in African music.
Born on March 1, 2000, Vex Prince began his musical adventure in 2022. His songs highlight universal themes such as love, passion, life, and the electrifying spirit of Afrobeat.
How Vex Prince Discovered His Musical Talent
"Before I realized it, I had no idea music was my true calling. But I always had an immense love for listening to music as a child," he revealed. His high school years marked a turning point when he transitioned from his first love—football—to dedicating himself fully to exploring music.
Vex Prince started with a fascination for the rap lyrics of Riderman and Bulldogg, memorizing their songs during holidays and performing them for his classmates upon returning to school. "Later, I would sing at school events and gatherings. At that moment, I knew music was something I needed to pursue."
The pivotal moment came in 2019, during his final year in high school, when friends invited him to a studio session. Their group, 2forTrap, asked him to contribute a verse. Despite his hesitations, he delivered a verse written in minutes, leaving everyone in awe. "That session confirmed my potential," he recalls.
Shortly after, the song was released, and he began performing it across various venues, gaining his first fans: his loyal friends who funded subsequent studio sessions. His journey soon transitioned from rap to singing, allowing him to explore broader musical expressiveness. "Music quickly became my escape—it healed my sadness, fear, and life challenges, affirming it as my calling."

A Trailblazer in Rwandan Music
Vex Prince attributes his passion for music to his older brother, who adored hip-hop artists such as Riderman and Bulldogg. "My brother's favorites quickly became mine too," said Vex Prince. His music, now celebrated across Rwanda and the African continent, also draws inspiration from international Afrobeat legends such as Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy—discovered through platforms like Trace Urban and Star Music TV.
Growing up, Vex Prince absorbed music from renowned artists like Bruce Melodie, King James Rwanda, The Ben, Sauti Sol, Diamond Platnumz, Runtown, and Simi. As he matured, his music evolved to encompass Afrobeat, Amapiano, R&B, UK Rap, and Drill genres, contributing to his diverse soundscape.
In 2025, he released his breakthrough debut album, “Levitation,” which chronicles his personal journey through love, heartbreak, and joy. Tracks such as “Wahala,” “Bad Energy,” and “Holy Water” gained massive traction in Rwanda and East Africa, while collaborations with Côte d’Ivoire artists Dorty (“Money”) and Fior2Bior (“Laler”) bolstered his international presence.
Vex Prince's music creates a fusion of Afrobeat, Pop, and R&B that resonates on a global stage. Outside of music, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, diving into films, and playing football.

Behind the Making of "Levitation"
Despite having over 250 written songs, narrowing down tracks for "Levitation" posed the biggest challenge for Vex Prince. Leading songs, including "Holy Water," "Bad Energy," and "Somebody," were effortlessly chosen, along with standout tracks like “Wahala” becoming his flagship release. Collaborations with prolific producers brought new dynamics to the process.
Among his most memorable moments was recording “Normally” in Côte d’Ivoire, striking collaborations that enriched his sound. "Choosing the final tracklist was a thrilling journey that sharpened my skills," he shared.

The Album’s Transformative Essence
"Levitation represents my life story—love, heartbreak, grief, resilience, and triumph through music," said Vex Prince. Embodying hope, he advocates rising beyond life's adversities.
The Path to Kauris Records
In March 2024, Vex Prince joined Kauris Music on his birthday, marking his breakthrough in music. Presented with a record deal by CEO Max Konan within days, he credited Alik Bulan for bridging the connection. By joining the Kauris family, he fulfilled dreams of releasing "Levitation" and performing alongside global icons like Diamond Platnumz.
