Uwayezu Jean François Regis shines as a leading candidate for the prestigious presidency of the Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA), where he could succeed Munyantwali Alphonse.
With vast football management expertise, Uwayezu recently stepped down from his role as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sports. His journey in Rwandan football includes serving as FERWAFA's Secretary General (2018-2021), Vice President of APR FC, and playing a pivotal role in Tanzania's Simba SC management until November 2024.
Beyond leadership roles, Uwayezu has an extensive coaching history. He coached youth teams at APR FC and holds a CAF-certified License C coaching qualification, highlighting his technical depth and commitment to the sport.
The upcoming FERWAFA elections promise significant changes in Rwandan football governance. Applications for candidates are set to close on July 19, 2025, with the final lineup expected to include transformative leaders like Uwayezu.
