Last Wednesday, a Cabinet meeting chaired by President Paul Kagame marked an important reshuffle in Rwanda's government. One of the key resolutions from the meeting was the appointment of Candy Basomingera as the new Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Sports.
On Wednesday this week, the official handover ceremony took place to transfer responsibilities between Candy Basomingera and her predecessor, Uwayezu Jean François Regis. The event was presided over by the Minister of Sports, Nelly Mukazayire, and held at the Ministry's headquarters in Remera, Kigali City—a significant venue in Rwanda's capital.
Uwayezu, who had served as Permanent Secretary for eight months, handed over the leadership baton to Candy Basomingera. Candy previously held the position of Director General at the Rwanda Convention Bureau, where she played a pivotal role in promoting tourism through high-profile conferences.
