Gospel music in Uganda continues to grow and thrive, with a new wave of talented artists emerging, known for their powerful lyrics and captivating performances. Among the most celebrated today are Betty Namaganda, Joseph Segawa, and Peggie Nightie—artists whose voices have become fixtures at major concerts and revival meetings across the country.

Peggie Nightie: Northern Uganda’s Gospel Star

Peggie Nightie is a fast-rising female Gospel artist in Uganda, with four years of experience in the industry. Her songs "Pe Ikata Rwot" and "Rwot Gwoka" carry deep spiritual and social messages, resonating with a wide audience.

Her hit song "Pe Ikata Rwot" gained massive popularity, while "Rwot Gwoka" has garnered over 184,000 views on YouTube in just two years. This success has made Peggie Nightie a leading Gospel voice in Northern Uganda, admired for her spiritual depth and musical style.

Prince Robby Elia: ‘Bendera a Yesu’ Artist with a Powerful Message

Prince Robby Elia has been serving in Gospel music for over 15 years. His breakthrough song, "Bendera A Yesu," speaks about faith and hope in God, becoming his signature piece and earning him the nickname "Bendera a Yesu" among fans.

Robby began his music journey as part of Gospel music groups in Uganda and is known for his heartfelt ministry through song. Though not widely distributed on digital platforms, his single "Bendera a Yesu" has become an anthem in many fellowships and Christian events.

Joseph Segawa: The Gospel Veteran with an African Touch

Joseph Segawa is a Gospel icon in Uganda known for blending faith-filled lyrics with traditional Ugandan rhythms. Active since the 1990s, he has built a lasting legacy in both rural and urban Gospel scenes.

Segawa’s early works featured accessible language and cultural storytelling rooted in Ugandan tradition. Over the years, he has evolved into one of the country’s most respected Gospel artists. Some of his best-known songs include: Omutambuze, Ensi Ekoma, Gwe Omanyi, Tobulawo, Nsubira, Otuwonyezza, Biyinzika, Nteredde, Twekembe, Omukisa, Ebyakatonda, Sirimuta, Gonda (Genda Mu Mawanga), and Entongooli (Katonda Wa Daudi).

In 2024, Segawa released his album Omwaka Gwange, which features a modern Gospel style fused with African heritage. The songs "Omwaka Gwange" and "Byansi" are particularly noted for their emotional power and spiritual richness.

Betty Namaganda: Uganda’s Enduring Gospel Powerhouse

Born in 1975, Betty Namaganda—also known as Betty Nakibuuka Senyonjo—is one of Uganda's most respected Gospel singers, with a career spanning decades and touching hearts across East Africa and beyond.

Despite her longevity, Betty remains relevant and beloved. She has released over 10 albums, with standout songs such as Baddu ba Yesu, Tukutendereza, Luyimba lwange, and Munene Munene. Her track "Yesu Anateera Okudda" has amassed over 1.6 million YouTube views, underscoring her widespread impact.

Married to John Senyonjo and a mother of three, including popular Gospel artist Baby Gloria (Gloria Mulungi Senyonjo), Betty’s ministry continues to grow. She began singing in Sunday School after a life-changing encounter with evangelists in 1991, and her passion for music and evangelism has never wavered.

Headlining the 'Miracle Gospel Celebration' with Evangelist Dana Morey

These renowned Gospel artists—Betty Namaganda, Joseph Segawa, Prince Robby Elia (a.k.a. “Bendera a Yesu”), and Peggie Nightie—are among the top performers chosen for the “Miracle Gospel Celebration”, a powerful Gospel crusade led by American evangelist Dana Morey. The revival will take place in Bweyale and Lugazi, Uganda.

  • Bweyale: July 3–6, 2025, behind Petrol Uganda Grounds, featuring Prince Robby Elia and Peggie Nightie.

  • Lugazi: July 11–13, 2025, at Wagadugu Grounds near Lugazi Community Primary School, with Betty Namaganda and Joseph Segawa ministering in song.

The event, organized by A Light To The Nations, will be an opportunity for thousands to hear the Gospel through powerful music and preaching. Lugazi, also known locally as Kawolo, is in Buikwe District, while Bweyale is a fast-growing town in Kiryandongo District, home to people from over 50 ethnic groups and a key hub along the Kampala–Gulu highway.
