The highly anticipated Uganda-Rwanda Music Festival, originally scheduled for Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Lugogo Cricket Oval in Uganda, has been postponed. Featuring a star-studded lineup, the festival included Ugandan icons such as Jose Chameleone, Ykee Benda, Ava Peace, and Dax Vibez.
From Rwanda, notable artists Marina, Kenny Sol, Calvin Mbanda, and Niyo Bosco were prepared to join the event, with plans to travel from Kigali this Friday, July 25, 2025.
While the official reason behind the postponement has not been publicly disclosed, reports obtained by InyaRwanda suggest the event was canceled due to insufficient preparation, particularly concerning advertising efforts. Poor promotion raised concerns among organizers about a potential lack of audience turnout.
A source involved in the festival’s planning shared with InyaRwanda that challenges stemming “from the Uganda side” were a major factor affecting the festival’s readiness.
Moreover, certain artists initially announced as part of the lineup, including Christopher and Juno Kizigenza, were dropped due to scheduling conflicts. Juno Kizigenza withdrew from the event, while Christopher Muneza canceled his participation citing prior engagements in the United States.
Fans who had secured tickets were encouraged to retain them while awaiting further updates regarding refund options or a rescheduled date for the Uganda-Rwanda Music Festival.
This festival was anticipated to serve as a cultural bridge, uniting celebrated artists from Uganda and Rwanda. Its sudden cancellation disappointed many excited fans who were eager to witness this collaborative event.
