Tom Close further explained the deeper message behind the song. "‘Cana Itara’ carries a message encouraging people to appreciate those who deserve it while they’re still alive, instead of waiting and doing it only during funerals, when those being praised can no longer hear it," he shared, encouraging fans to reflect on the importance of expressing gratitude in real-time.

Addressing recent criticism from Ngabo Roben, who alleged Tom Close was "overrated in Rwandan music history," Tom dismissed the controversy, stating: "I’m unaware of that saga. I’ve been working on this song for a while; it’s a project that has been in preparation for some time." His focus remains firmly on the impactful message of "Cana Itara."
