Theo Bosebabireba Shines at Kayonza Revival: From Street Kid to Gospel Icon

A transformative revival in Kayonza, organized by Baho Global Mission and RIC Kabarondo, celebrates the inspiring journey of Theo Bosebabireba, who returned to his hometown as a gospel icon after overcoming street life struggles.

This revival event, organized by Baho Global Mission in collaboration with RIC Kabarondo [Rwanda Inter-Religious Council], is unfolding at the Rusera playground in Kabarondo, Kayonza, from August 29–31, 2025, starting daily at 2 PM. Featuring renowned gospel artists Theo Bosebabireba and Rose Muhando, the event is drawing significant attention.

In sync with the annual Rwanda Shima Imana 2025 celebrations happening nationwide from August 29–31, the Kabarondo revival has incorporated moments of gratitude for Rwanda’s blessings. Led by Rev. Baho Isaie Uwihirwe, the organizers have emphasized giving thanks for the nation's progress. Rev. Baho Isaie shared with InyaRwanda, "We will conclude by thanking God because we are also participating in Rwanda Shima Imana, celebrated nationally. We have set aside a special moment to appreciate what God has done and continues to do for our country."

During the opening day, Ev. Dr. Ren Schuffman, an Israeli-American preacher, captivated the audience with his impressions of Rwanda after visiting various African nations. He praised the country’s cleanliness, security, and modern governance, declaring that Rwanda is in a pivotal era of divine favor.

He remarked, "I noticed God’s favor on this country. Rwanda has reached the time to send missionaries worldwide. The advanced infrastructure and leadership I saw here truly amazed me."

Theo Bosebabireba: A Triumphant Return to Kayonza

Celebrated gospel artist Uwiringiyimana Théogène, widely known as Theo Bosebabireba, delivered a moving performance before a packed audience at Rusera playground. Hailing from Kayonza, where his life began amidst hardship and struggle as a street child, Theo’s homecoming resonated deeply.

Rev. Isaie Baho, leader of Baho Global Mission, shared an emotional tribute before Theo took the stage, saying, “This is where Theo Bosebabireba lived as a street child, but today he returns as someone who glorifies God. Once he walked the streets in slippers; now he stands dignified. It is evidence of how God transforms lives."

In his powerful testimony, Theo recounted his challenging journey from selling peanuts on the streets and grappling with drug addiction to finding salvation and becoming a gospel icon. He revealed that his hardships started in Kabarondo and escalated in Kigali.

He shared, "Nothing bad can ever turn out good. Tough times remain tough. The lowest point of my life was as a street child in Kigali. I faced imprisonment, beatings, and a constant fear of dying. Poverty, substance abuse, and endless struggles defined my days. Life on the streets was painfully harsh."

Through faith and perseverance, Theo transformed his life after accepting salvation. He explained, "Breaking free from hardship didn’t happen instantly. First, I got saved—I came to know God. That’s when my outlook began to change. I became a Christian, started singing in a choir, and eventually launched my own gospel music career."
