In this highly competitive category, The Ben triumphed over notable African artists, including Mouh Milano, Rophnan, Rayvanny, Kouz1, Likacase Qays, Marioo, Bien-Aimé Baraza, Master KG, and Dizzy Dros, solidifying his reputation as one of Africa’s leading performers.
Meanwhile, fellow Rwandan artist Bruce Melodie, who was nominated in several categories, did not secure a win. In the Social Media Influencer of the Year category, the award went to Uganda’s Ghetto Kids, competing against names such as Realijfrosh, Maryan Abdiwali Ahmed, William Last KRM, Adeoluwa Prince Enioluwa, Boity Thulo, Althea Brown (Metemgee), Vera Sidika, and Mimie.
Producer Element, representing Rwanda in the Music Producer of the Year category, was also unsuccessful, with South Africa’s DJ Maphorisa taking the honor.
Internationally acclaimed artist Shenseea, who is scheduled to perform in Kigali on January 3, 2026, did not win in the International Artist of the Year category; the award went to Burna Boy.
In the Rising Star of the Year category, Zuba Ray of Kina Music was nominated but the award went to Oriyano.
The award for Song of the Year was claimed by Chella for her hit single “My Darling”, which outshone other nominees including Producer Element’s “Tombe’”.
Bruce Melodie, also nominated for Artist of the Year, lost to Ghanaian singer Josey, while his collaboration with Shaggy, “When She’s Around,” was defeated in the Best Music Video category by “MMS” by Asake featuring Wizkid.
The African Entertainment Awards USA (AEAUSA) are internationally recognized for celebrating African and Caribbean talent, honoring contributions in music, culture, and economic development.
The 2025 edition marked the 11th year of the awards, continuing to serve as a platform that recognizes the achievements of artists, entrepreneurs, innovators, and contributors to social development worldwide.
Voting took place between October 17 and December 15, 2025, via the official website www.aeausa.net allowing fans from around the globe to participate in selecting the winners. Official results were announced on December 20, 2025, with winners’ names shared across AEAUSA’s social media and website.
While not every Rwandan nominee won, The Ben’s victory highlights the growing global presence of Rwandan music, inspiring emerging artists and showcasing the country’s talent on the international stage.
