The Ben Officially Receives His 2025 HiPipo Music Award

Rwandan music star The Ben, born Mugisha Benjamin, has officially received the award he won at the HiPipo Music Awards 2025, where he was recognized as the Best East African Song Artist.

He was presented with the award on Sunday night, February 15, 2025, a few months after being announced as one of the winners at the prestigious regional ceremony.

The 14th edition of the HiPipo Music Awards took place in Kampala, Uganda, on November 15, 2025, bringing together various artists from across East Africa and beyond.

The Ben earned the accolade thanks to his hit song “True Love,” which gained widespread popularity across several East African countries. The romantic track captivated many listeners and showcased his talent in blending R&B with Rwandan and international musical influences.

“True Love” enjoyed significant airplay on numerous radio stations and accumulated impressive views on digital platforms, helping it secure victory in the highly competitive awards category.

During the same ceremony, Ugandan artist Joshua Baraka emerged as one of the biggest winners of the night, further highlighting Uganda’s strong presence in the regional music scene.

For The Ben, winning this award marks another important milestone in his musical journey. He is already regarded as one of Rwanda’s most prominent artists, with a solid reputation both regionally and internationally.

The achievement further reinforces the growing influence of Rwandan music on the global stage and places The Ben among the few Rwandan artists who have successfully won major regional awards — a recognition that strengthens his confidence as he looks ahead to future projects.
