Team Rwanda Kicks Off Camp Ahead of 2025 UCI Road World Championships

Rwanda prepares to host the first UCI Road World Championships in Africa this September 2025, as the national team undergoes rigorous training for the historic event.

From September 21 to September 28, 2025, Kigali, Rwanda, will proudly host the UCI Road World Championships, marking the first time this esteemed event will be held on African soil.

With just over a month left until the championship, Rwanda's national cycling team has embarked on an intensive training camp in Rubavu. The preparations aim to ensure a strong showing for the country as it takes the global spotlight. In the men's senior category, the selected athletes are:

  • Mugisha Moise
  • Masengesho Vaincueur (Benediction Club)
  • Manizabayo Eric (Java Innotec Pro Team)
  • Nsegiyumva Shemu (Java Innotec Pro Team)
  • Muhoza Eric (Team Amani)
  • Uwiduhaye Mike (Benediction Club)
  • Nkundabera Eric (Les Amis Sportifs)
  • Byukusenge Patrick (Java Innotec Pro Team)
  • Ngendahaye Jeremie (May Stars)
  • Nzafashwanayo Jean Claude (Benediction Club)

In the women's senior category, the riders gearing up for the championship are:

  • Ingabire Diane (Canyon/Sram)
  • Nzayisenga Valentine
  • Nirere Xaverine (Team Amani)
  • Neza Violette

The men’s Under-23 category features promising talents, including:

  • Samuel Niyonkuru (Team Amani)

  • Manizabayo Jean De Dieu (Sina Cycling Club)
  • Nshutiraguma Kevin (Team Amani)

The women’s Under-23 category boasts skilled cyclists such as:

  • Ingabire Domina (Bugesera Cycling Club)
  • Byukusenge (Sina Cycling Club)

Likewise, the girls in the Under-19 category include rising stars like:

In the boys' Under-19 category, the representatives are:

More male cyclists in the Under-19 category are expected to join the training camp following their participation in the Rwanda Junior Tour 2025.
