On Monday, October 27, 2025, Grammy-winning choreographer Sherrie Silver addressed InyaRwanda about her preparations for the much-anticipated event, “The Silver Gala.” The gala, aimed at empowering underprivileged youth in Rwanda, will take place on Saturday, October 1, 2025, at BK Arena.
This second edition of the gala builds on its debut success at Kigali Convention Center in 2024. Known for blending global impact with local initiatives, Sherrie Silver shared her inspiration for organizing this annual event, which stems from her experiences with hosting international affairs like the Meta Gala.
The Silver Gala isn’t just a celebration; it’s a fundraising endeavor aiming to support Sherrie Silver Foundation, a charity dedicated to uplifting children from underprivileged families.
To ensure maximum engagement, Silver has partnered with renowned artists such as Butera Knowless, Massamba Intore, Juno Kizigenza, Chriss Eazy, Ross Kana, Chella, and more.
The event is expected to attract thousands to BK Arena, and while Trace TV will air highlights subsequently, the live experience promises to be thrilling.
Sherrie Silver shared her ambitious vision of constructing a permanent arts facility to serve the foundation's operations. She stated, “My goal is to have the facility built within the next three years because it’s essential. We aim to collaborate with incredible partners to make this dream a reality.”
According to her, initial projections indicate the project will require an estimated $20 million. She elaborated, “The costs could range between $20 million and $22 million. This isn’t something constructed overnight; it’s a step-by-step endeavor. Still, the objective is to create a unique hub that everyone can be proud of.”
Sharing updates after a recent visit by Rwandan Foreign Minister, Ambassador Olivier Nduhungirehe, who toured Sherrie Silver Foundation on September 14, 2025, Silver disclosed that the process of acquiring land for the construction is underway.
Minister Nduhungirehe supported the foundation’s artistic vision, emphasizing the importance of bold ambition and perseverance.
During his visit, young talents from the foundation expressed their aspirations, including the dream of constructing an entertainment theater. Their vision includes providing a space for dance performances, cultural festivals, and concerts, while dedicating resources to empower Rwanda’s talented youth.
Importantly, this entertainment theater will allow children and youth to learn, train, and showcase their creativity on a global scale.
In a post shared on Instagram, the foundation reflected, “Ahead of 'The Silver Gala,' the Honorable Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Amb. Olivier Nduhungirehe, encouraged the youth to expand their dreams and strive for excellence. We presented him our vision to construct a theater that will nurture artistic opportunities in Rwanda.”
This state-of-the-art facility will host workshops, events, practices, and more, fostering a generation of artistic innovators who can represent Rwanda globally.
Recognized for her global achievements, Silver has gained prominence for choreographing Childish Gambino's Grammy-winning track “This is America”. She has also starred in notable films, but her focus now lies in uplifting Rwanda’s future generations.
Diving beyond her personal legacy as an artist, Silver is steadfast in founding a space for distribution, education, inspiration, and cultural exchange among young talents.
She concluded, “This project will be a beacon proving how one individual’s dreams can inspire an entire generation and transform the potential of Rwanda’s youth in the arts.”

Silver pledged to build a center benefiting talented youth within three years.
