From children’s choirs to school singalongs, Sarah’s love for music laid a solid foundation for her journey. Moving to Kigali became the turning point, granting her an opportunity she had long prayed for—the chance to be part of Ambassadors of Christ Choir.
Sarah reveals that her decision to join this choir was influenced by the powerful and life-changing message they deliver, uplifting individuals irrespective of age.
She emphasizes: "Through the messages they’ve shared over the years, I was also personally touched. I prayed that, if God helped me, I would join them in spreading that message. That’s how I chose the Ambassadors of Christ Choir."
Over the past 19 years, Sarah Sanyu has become synonymous with the choir’s vibrant gospel music, contributing to 18 albums that reflect her dedication and unmatched vocal talent. Her voice is an integral part of cherished tracks like “Yesu ni Inzira,” “Abasaruzi,” “Nahuye na Mesiya,” “Hejuru mu Kirere,” “Ntakirutimana,” and “Hoziana.” Each song is a testament to her ability to communicate powerful lyrics and evoke a deep emotional connection.
Ambassadors of Christ: A Community of Faith
In her reflections, Sarah describes the choir not just as a group but as a family bonded by spirituality, love, and mutual growth. She treasures the peace and purpose it brings to her life.
She humbly states: “First of all, I found the Ambassadors to be a family. Beyond singing, in all the activities we perform, I feel it is a family. Secondly, it’s a place of peace and refuge, one that helps me stay away from distractions and remain focused on sharing God’s message."
Sarah attests that this choir nurtures both spiritual and personal growth in its members through discipline and shared commitment. She adds: "It’s also a place that allows me to continue my journey as a singer. Being part of a vibrant and active family like this leaves no room for wasting time. It’s a place that nurtures my connection with God and encourages prayer and devotion."
Her unwavering faith, love for gospel ministry, and belief in spreading God’s message lie at the core of her motivation to continue singing.
Reflecting on the evolution of choir music in her 19 years, Sarah attributes it all to “God’s faithfulness." She asserts: "I see this as a blessing. I have been blessed in my work for God. It is His grace that brought me here. There are many blessings God has given me through the Ambassadors."
Sarah encourages young people to prioritize God’s work and steer clear of distractions posed by worldly pleasures. Her transformative journey serves as a testament to what can be achieved when dreams are pursued with faith and dedication. Today, Sarah Sanyu stands as a beacon of inspiration and an embodiment of the choir’s vision—faith, gospel, and unity.
In addition to her commitment to the Ambassadors of Christ Choir, Sarah has also pursued her music career independently, dedicating five years to nurturing her unique artistry. She revealed plans to release a new song by the year’s end, expanding a portfolio that includes songs like “Nitashinda,” “Umunsi Mushya,” “Omora,” and “Mwana Wanjye.”
