At "The Silver Gala 2025" in Kigali, Minister Sandrine Umutoni commended Sherrie Silver’s efforts to elevate African arts worldwide. She urged investments in youth creativity as a driving force for national growth and cultural development.

Minister Sandrine Umutoni delivered an inspiring speech at the prestigious "The Silver Gala" event held at BK Arena, Kigali, on Saturday night, November 1, 2025. Organized by Sherrie Silver, the event celebrated artistic talents from Rwanda and across Africa.

During her address, Minister Umutoni praised Sherrie Silver for her dedication to empowering young people and nurturing talents. She highlighted Silver's contributions to promoting African arts globally, emphasizing that her initiatives go beyond entertainment and serve as gateways to international platforms.

She stated, "I want to thank Sherrie Silver for using her talent to uplift others, create opportunities, and showcase African artistry worldwide. This evening demonstrates how investing in young talent and prioritizing the arts can lead to national development—not merely for entertainment or charity, but as critical pillars of transformation and progress."

Minister Umutoni underscored the importance of recognizing the creativity of young people, providing them with opportunities to grow, and embracing their aspirations. She encouraged artists to perceive art not just as leisure but as a powerful tool for fostering economic development, promoting unity, and advancing a culture of innovation.

"Supporting artists goes beyond acknowledging their talent. It’s about empowering them to become influencers, educators, and ambassadors of our culture and values," she added.

Additionally, she applauded the impactful work of the Sherrie Silver Foundation, noting its alignment with Rwanda’s vision for arts and culture development. The foundation has been instrumental in offering training programs, boosting local artistic production, and promoting Rwandan talent on a global stage.

"Under the stewardship of His Excellency President Paul Kagame, the Rwandan government recognizes the significance of the creative industries. We are firmly committed to positioning arts and culture at the forefront of our nation’s growth agenda," remarked Minister Umutoni.

She challenged the attendees, especially the young creatives, to trust their talents, work diligently, collaborate, and deliver quality outcomes. She urged sponsors and supporters to continue investing in youth creativity, emphasizing its immense potential in advancing both cultural and economic progress.

"The Silver Gala" served as a dynamic showcase of talent in music, dance, fashion, and visual arts from Rwanda and the broader African continent. The event fostered collaboration, innovation, and the showcasing of African excellence.

Closing her address, Minister Umutoni reaffirmed the vital role of the arts and youth in national development. "Trusting the youth, supporting artists, and prioritizing the arts are fundamental pillars for building the future of our nation," she concluded.
