The highly anticipated encounter comes after Mamelodi Sundowns secured a narrow 1-0 victory in the first leg played in South Africa, giving the club an advantage heading into the decisive return fixture.
As one of the experienced football administrators in African football, Jules Karangwa will oversee all matchday operations to ensure the game is conducted smoothly and in full compliance with CAF regulations and standards.
In his role as Match Coordinator, Karangwa will be responsible for supervising all organizational aspects of the match, serving as the link between CAF and the two participating teams, and ensuring that both the stadium and training facilities meet CAF requirements.
His duties will also include coordinating pre-match activities such as official team meetings and rehearsals for the opening ceremony, preparing the detailed minute-by-minute match schedule, and verifying the official player lists to be used during the game.
In addition, he will oversee player inspections before kickoff, monitor the match alongside the fourth official, and document all incidents related to organization, conduct, and disciplinary matters throughout the fixture.
Karangwa’s assignment will conclude with the submission of a comprehensive official match report in accordance with CAF regulations.
Unless there are changes, Jules Karangwa is expected to depart for Morocco on May 20, 2026, becoming only the second Rwandan official to serve in such a role during a CAF Champions League final.
