Just one day after Rwanda celebrates its Liberation Day, an electrifying boxing tournament is set to take center stage at the Gymnasium of Lycée de Kigali. Organized in collaboration with the Rwanda Boxing Federation, the event promises excitement and fierce competition.
The highlight of the tournament is the ‘Liberation Boxing Talent Competition,’ featuring 16 matches across multiple categories, including men, women, youth, and adult participants. It is an opportunity to showcase incredible talents and celebrate sportsmanship.
In line with protocols from the International Boxing Association (IBA), comprehensive health checks for athletes have already been conducted. Currently, boxers are rigorously training within their respective teams to ensure peak performance during the matches.
Scheduled for July 5, 2025, the tournament will cater to different age groups. Adult contenders between 19 to 40 years, including both men and women, will square off in competitive matches. Additionally, youthful athletes aged 13 to 16 will take their shot at medals and trophies, offering an equal platform to emerging and seasoned talents.
Adding vibrance to the Liberation Day celebrations, the tournament will witness an exciting clash between boxing teams from Rwanda and Uganda. This cross-border collaboration aims to enhance the competitive spirit and foster international camaraderie in sports.
