France Mpundu, a Huha Records artist, becomes the first Rwandan in "Secret Story Africa." Competing against 16 contestants, the winner earns 20M+ CFA francs.

The winner of "Secret Story Africa" will take home over 20 million CFA francs (approximately 50 million RWF). France Mpundu, a talented Rwandan singer under Huha Records, made history by becoming the first Rwandan contestant on the show. She entered the “Secret Story Africa” house on October 6, 2025, joining 16 contestants from 14 French-speaking African countries.

This rising star, signed to Juno Kizigenza's Huha Records, left Kigali before October 5, 2025, to prepare for the international competition. Her journey symbolizes Rwanda's growing representation in continental entertainment.

Last year, Awa Sanoko from Côte d’Ivoire claimed the top prize, showcasing the intense competition in "Secret Story Africa."

The Global Success of "Secret Story"

Produced by the renowned Banijay Entertainment S.A., the show shares similarities with "Big Brother," another highly successful reality TV format. Contestants are confined to a "House of Secrets" for two months, completely cut off from the outside world—no phones, no television, and no outside contact.

As they compete in various challenges, their main objectives are to protect their own secrets while uncovering those of their co-contestants. Every moment is captured via audio and video recordings.

The second season of "Secret Story Africa" airs on CANAL+ POP from Monday to Friday at 18:15 GMT, with a Saturday special airing at 20:30 GMT on CANAL+ Magic. This exposure across Africa is expected to draw even more viewers to the reality show's dramatic twists and turns.

Hosted by Popular Faces

Jean-Michel Onnin, a European journalist from Côte d’Ivoire, and Stéphanelle Tsabakana from Cameroon are reprising their roles as hosts for the show's second season. Their successful chemistry from the first season has captured viewers' attention, adding charm and excitement to the program.

In the inaugural season, Awa Sanoko won an astounding 22,925,000 CFA francs, which included the 20 million CFA francs grand prize and an extra 2,925,000 CFA francs from additional incentives. Now the stakes are just as high in season two, with 16 new talented contestants set to compete.

A Global Sensation

"Secret Story" originated in France and quickly gained massive popularity, running for over 18 years on major TV networks, including TF1 and RTL Plug. The show has since expanded, reaching millions of fans across Europe and Africa.

To mark the launch of this season, Canal+ Benin hosted a celebratory event named "Secret Night" at Grill Spot Bar Restaurant in Fidjirossè, Cotonou. The glamorous gathering treated fans to a night filled with fun, secrets, and entertainment.

France Mpundu: Rwanda's Pride

France Mpundu has made her mark as a vibrant and charismatic artist, impressing many with her resilience and dedication. These traits are essential in navigating the show's high-pressure environment. “She’s ready to face the challenges and bring pride to Rwanda,” her manager said.

Mpundu now competes against other talented individuals from across Africa, all striving for the title and the grand prize in "Secret Story Africa."
