From August 17 to September 8, 2025, Morocco will host the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup, showcasing the brightest talents in women's youth football. FIFA has finalized the selection of referees from around the world, with Africa contributing six distinguished officials, including Rwanda's own Alice Umutesi.
Rwandan referee Alice Umutesi has earned a spot among four African assistant referees chosen to assist during matches at the tournament. Her role as an assistant referee underscores her growing reputation in football officiating and her significant contribution to the sport on an international level. Africa will also be represented by two central referees during the event.
The elite group of six African referees comprises Wanjiru Josephine from Kenya and Yacine Samassa from Mauritania, who will take on central refereeing roles. Joining Alice Umutesi as assistant referees are three other notable officials: Yara Atef from Egypt, Bangurambona Fides from Burundi, and Tabara Mbidji from Senegal. Together, they will contribute to ensuring fairness and professionalism throughout the tournament.
