Rwanda Through JDK’s Eyes: 5 Things That Inspired His New Song “Rwanda My Pride”

Jean de Dieu Harerimana, popularly known as JDK, has once again expressed his deep love and pride for Rwanda, revealing five key aspects he admires about the country that inspired him to create his upbeat song “Rwanda My Pride.”

The artist, who rose to fame with “Hinga Kinyamwuga,” explained that his main motivation was Rwanda’s strong values, particularly good governance that ensures stability and direction.

He also highlighted the country’s economic progress driven by private investment, which has created jobs and improved livelihoods, as well as advancements in healthcare that have enhanced citizens’ well-being.

JDK emphasized that peace and security remain fundamental pillars of Rwanda’s development, alongside inclusive education that continues to empower the youth and shape a better future.

In an interview with InyaRwanda, JDK noted that “Rwanda My Pride” aims to inspire Rwandans to embrace and celebrate their national identity, encouraging them to speak proudly about their country.

He further stressed the importance of unity among Rwandans, describing it as a powerful shield against external threats.

Beyond this patriotic release, JDK revealed plans to produce more Afrobeat songs carrying both entertaining and educational messages, while also exploring love-themed music, as seen in his recent track “Special Night,” following “Uranyura.”

Despite gaining widespread recognition through “Hinga Kinyamwuga,” which was even used by Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources (MINAGRI) in a national campaign, JDK admitted it was disappointing that many people knew the song but not the artist behind it.

Outside music, JDK works as a Director of Administration in an industrial company based in Masoro and holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from UNILAK obtained in 2014.

He remains committed to using his music as a tool for positive social impact while showcasing his patriotism. In October 2024, he collaborated with Musengamana Beatha, popularly known as “Azabatsinda Kagame,” on the song “Ubudasa,” which celebrates Rwanda’s uniqueness, driven by effective leadership and national values.
