The Rwanda Defense Force (RDF) disclosed a drone accident in an official statement issued on Tuesday night, shedding light on an unfortunate incident during their training operation.
According to the statement, RDF explained: "Today at 1:40 PM, a small unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) operated by RDF during a training exercise lost its course due to unfavorable weather conditions and subsequently crashed in the Rutsiro District."
The RDF confirmed that three students were injured in the crash. The injured students are receiving medical treatment, and RDF has expressed sincere regret to the affected families.
"In this accident, the drone injured three students who were walking home from school. Two of them are currently receiving medical care at the Kivumu Health Center, while the third student has been transferred to Murunda Hospital for treatment," the statement clarified.
The Rwanda Defense Force conveyed heartfelt condolences to the families of the injured students, expressing their deep remorse over the incident. They assured that comprehensive medical care and necessary support are being provided.
RDF added that collaborative efforts with local government authorities and medical teams are underway to ensure the injured children receive adequate medical attention. RDF has also pledged to provide necessary assistance to the affected students and their families.
