Rwanda: After nearly 7 months of school closure, the Ministry of Education has announced the schools ‘calendar for  Upper primary, secondary schools and TVET

This comes after the cabinet meeting okayed the reopening of schools but in phases and ensuring that institutions abode by the preventive measures put in place and asked the ministry to oversee the start of schools.

According to the calendar, the upper primary and secondary schools’ will open on 2nd November,2020 and 23rd November for second term and expected to close the school year in April next year.

Initially, students in the fifth and sixth year of primary school and third, fifth and sixth year students will be the first to attend school on November 2, 2020.                MINEDUC announcement school year calendar 2020-2021  

The pandemic that saw most businesses, schools and churches and other social gathering stopped has according to Ministry of Health been easing with new infection cases below 10 people every day.

After the Ministry of Education, Students will continue where they had stopped in syllabus coverage adding that those who had paid the school fees would not pay again, a move that was welcome with relief from parents and guardians.
