Ruti Joel delivered a stellar performance in London, UK, on July 4, 2025, as part of a monumental concert marking Rwandan Unity Day. Accompanied by Clement The Guitarist, a long-time close collaborator, Joel amazed audiences with his signature blend of traditional and contemporary music.
This Liberation Day event aimed to unite Rwandans living in the UK while celebrating the country's historical milestones. Ruti Joel, renowned for his debut album "Musomandera," enthralled fans with his soulful compositions rooted in Rwandan culture.
After his triumph in London, the artist returned to Kigali for a packed schedule. His performances included the prestigious opening of the Giants of Africa festival and his celebrated duet with Lionel Sentore during the launch of Sentore's album "Uwangabiye" on July 27, 2025, at the Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village (Camp Kigali).
In a candid interview with InyaRwanda, Joel unveiled captivating details about the highly anticipated album "Rutakisha." He highlighted that while the album creation was led by Clement The Guitarist, it features his vocals across its ten tracks, all expertly produced by Clement.
Joel shared, “Our recording process is complete, and now we're focusing on ensuring the songs are refined to top-quality standards before release. The album title, 'Rutakisha,' resonates with tradition while symbolizing heroism.”
Describing the album’s themes, Ruti Joel revealed it delivers profound messages of patriotism, peace preservation, and blends diverse music genres, including traditional and trending contemporary styles. It's an homage to Rwanda's rich heritage revitalized for a modern audience.
Highlighting the album's significance, Ruti mentioned one song was performed live for the first time at the Giants of Africa festival in BK Arena, creating an unforgettable moment for his fans.
Adding a personal touch to the album visuals, Joel disclosed the inclusion of Converse All Stars, gifted to him by Ambassador Johnston Busingye during his London visit. Reflecting on the gesture, he said, “Ambassador Busingye presented me a gift package that included Converse shoes representing respect and honor. These shoes are now part of the album’s visuals. I’ve stored them securely to safeguard this special memento.”
Joel expressed deep appreciation for Ambassador Busingye's support, confirming his gratitude for being accompanied to the airport and supported during his travels back to Kigali. “The ambassador's gestures were heartfelt and inspiring,” Ruti remarked.
Discussing collaborations, Joel elaborated on his artistic bond with Lionel Sentore, stemming from conversations in Belgium. “Performing with Jules, Lionel, and Charles is uniquely fulfilling. Each artist enhances the experience with their distinctive talent,” Joel shared.
The eagerly awaited "Rutakisha" album promises to be a masterpiece reflecting the spirit of heroism, cultural pride, and patriotism rooted in traditional music yet tailored for modern audiences.
