Rugaba Drops ‘Chorus’ Album, Inspired by Its Fame in Papa Sava Series – VIDEO

Discover Rugaba's heartfelt choruses blending everyday life, prayers, and humor. His 2025 album teaser, "Ibaze Imana," dominates TikTok and YouTube.

Rugaba’s choruses have gained immense popularity on social media platforms like TikTok for their simplicity and relatability to everyday life, making them easy for audiences to sing along and recreate.

After departing from the hit comic series "Papa Sava" in December 2024, Rugaba announced his plans to produce a groundbreaking album featuring 20 choruses. This album will be unveiled in phases to bring fresh music to his fans.

In an exclusive interview with InyaRwanda, Rugaba shared the unexpected journey of creating his first choruses. Faced with a film project lacking a theme song, he took a bold move toward originality. Rugaba recalled, “One of the actors mentioned using a song from a book, but I thought, ‘those are already known; let’s create our own.’ I prayed to God for guidance, and that’s how it started.”

These compositions quickly grew popular among both cast members and fans of his work, reinforcing Rugaba’s creative musical abilities. At times, his ideas for choruses were incomplete until he collaborated with Gratien for inspiration and refinement.

“There were moments I’d tell Gratien, ‘I feel a song inside me but don’t know where to direct it,’ and he’d suggest singing it in a specific way. Together, we polished the ideas,” Rugaba explained.

What sets these choruses apart is their simplicity and emotional depth. They're easy to memorize and sing, which allows fans to embrace them on social platforms like TikTok. Many of Rugaba's compositions deliver profound messages ranging from prayers to life reflections, often layered with a touch of humor.

Crafted to strike at listeners’ emotions, these choruses often serve as memorable openings or closings in songs. Whether performed in churches, concerts, or weddings, Rugaba’s music connects deeply with audiences, fostering shared experiences and unity.

As Rugaba emphasized, “A chorus is not just words; it’s an inner voice that resonates with someone’s life.”

Rugaba revealed exciting details about his upcoming 20-chorus album, all produced by renowned Producer Manzi in audio format. The album's official release is slated for July 2025, promising appealing messages and unique spiritual experiences.

“Some songs carry comforting messages, while others feature prayers. Depending on one’s perspective—spiritual or worldly—they can interpret the music differently,” Rugaba noted.

The journey toward releasing this album took a bold step on Friday, June 20, 2025, when Rugaba dropped a teaser for the chorus titled “Ibaze Imana ishyize amabanga yawe hanze,” meaning "Imagine God Reveals Your Secrets." The emotional teaser features various artists—men, women, and youth—coming together to sing alongside Rugaba. Combining heartfelt advice and prayerful undertones, the teaser has already gained traction on platforms like TikTok and YouTube.
