InyaRwanda has obtained a copy of a letter titled "Formal Reminder Regarding Contract Termination Procedures,” signed by Mugarura Kenny, the head of 1:55 AM Ltd. The letter addresses Ross Kana’s public announcement made on his Instagram account on May 2, 2025, stating it did not comply with the legally approved termination procedures. It directly insists that Ross Kana must formally outline the reasons for ending the contract in a written document, referencing the relevant clauses in the signed agreement.
The letter strongly asserts that Ross Kana remains under contract with 1:55 AM. It states, “We respectfully remind you that the management agreement you signed remains legally binding and prescribes specific procedures for its termination. A public announcement is not deemed legally sufficient.”
The management of 1:55 AM Ltd also emphasized their contractual rights, noting that both parties must honor the terms. These obligations include reimbursing any funds the label invested in Ross Kana’s career and returning any company-owned assets or intellectual property still in his possession.
This development arises amid hints of dissatisfaction from Ross Kana regarding his collaboration with 1:55 AM. Nonetheless, the company has expressed a willingness to engage in peaceful dialogue but insists that any termination must align with legal and contractual agreements.
Ross Kana had been a key artist under 1:55 AM, which has represented celebrated musicians such as Bruce Melodie, Kenny Sol, and Element.
Having signed with the label in early 2024, the artist was poised for great success. Over the course of one year and five months, fans were hopeful he was embarking on a transformative phase in his music career.
However, in his Instagram post on May 2, 2025, Ross Kana conveyed dissatisfaction with 1:55 AM, claiming, “I am resigning from 1:55 AM effective immediately because they failed to fulfill the commitments we agreed upon. What we had discussed was not honored, which hindered the progress I expected as an artist.”
Despite his frustrations, Ross Kana expressed gratitude for the support he received from the label during their tenure together. He explained that the decision to leave was motivated by the need to seek new opportunities that align with his dreams as an artist. Additionally, he wished 1:55 AM continued success in supporting other artists.
Ross Kana joined 1:55 AM in early 2024, releasing his debut song titled ‘Sesa’ on February 2, 2024. The track gained notable attention, solidifying his position as a promising new artist. Following this, he dropped another song titled ‘Mami,’ but subsequent projects that fans anticipated did not materialize.
The label 1:55 AM accused Ross Kana of breaching contract rules by announcing his departure via Instagram instead of following lawful procedures.
