Ross Kana Dodges Question on Paying Bruce Melodie Rwf 10 Million for Album

Ross Kana urges Bruce Melodie to address the mystery surrounding Rwf 10 million allegedly paid for an album. The unanswered controversy fuels public speculation as Ross Kana focuses on his music career and his latest project, "Molela."

Ross Kana has sparked conversations in the Rwandan music industry by requesting that Bruce Melodie address the mystery surrounding a reported Rwf 10 million payment. Allegedly made for "Colorful Generation" album support, unanswered questions have left room for widespread speculation. Meanwhile, Ross Kana channels his energy into his promising new music project, "Molela."

The controversy, which has gripped media headlines and social media platforms, continues to build intrigue. Ross Kana, however, has chosen to maintain his composure and redirect inquiries to Bruce Melodie, the person linked to the payment. He insists the responsibility to clarify lies with Melodie.

Ross Kana revisited the matter during a press interview on Thursday, July 4, 2025. At the time, he had just returned to Kigali from Tanzania’s coastal city of Mombasa, where he filmed visuals for "Molela," a song produced by the acclaimed Producer Element and shot under Director Gad's expertise.

Reports dating back to December 2024 claim Ross Kana allegedly handed over Rwf 10 million to Bruce Melodie to assist him with his career and purchase "Colorful Generation," his new album. The gesture was celebrated at the time as an extraordinary collaboration between artists—a sign of unity and mutual growth in Rwandan music rather than a commercial exchange.

But questions inevitably arose. No evidence confirming the payment has ever come to light. Remarks from executives of Ross Kana’s former label, 1:55 AM, added confusion, with one stating, “Ross Kana never made such a payment.”

One month after parting ways with 1:55 AM, Ross Kana broke his silence on the matter in measured words. He expressed reluctance to dwell on it, putting the focus squarely on Bruce Melodie. Kana said firmly:

“I’ll make this simple—so simple it won’t take five seconds. If you have Bruce Melodie’s phone number, call him. He’s my big brother, someone I respect and love. Ask him, ‘Did that guy buy the album?’ His response will be more definitive than anything I could tell you.”

Ross Kana clarified further, emphasizing the money was not intended for 1:55 AM management. Instead, Bruce Melodie was the sole intended recipient.

“Keep in mind where I was and who I was speaking about. No 1:55 AM executives can provide comments on this except Munyakazi (Bruce Melodie),” Ross Kana firmly stated.

Displaying caution and neutrality, Ross Kana has refrained from confirming or denying the alleged payment. Some view this as a reflection of his prudence; others perceive it as avoidance. What remains clear is his intention not to stoke further controversy or tension with those who previously supported his career.

Bruce Melodie’s silence has compounded the mystery. Without any contract, documentation, or proof to confirm or refute the claims, the matter has become a topic of endless debate.

As one of Rwanda’s rising musical stars, Ross Kana has embraced independence and is forging ahead with his career. His freshly recorded single, "Molela," is setting the stage for a revitalized era of artistry. With its production rooted in Mombasa’s serene beaches, the song is anticipated to inject fresh energy into his music trajectory.

While the rumors surrounding the Rwf 10 million persist, Ross Kana has chosen to focus on tangible projects over words. His decision shows determination to prioritize creativity and musical growth.

Until Bruce Melodie provides comment or evidence, the intrigue surrounding the alleged payment is likely to remain unresolved.
