Rwandan comedy icons Boss Rukundo and Ben Nganji are gearing up to revive their popular film series, ‘Gatumwa’ and ‘Umunsi w’umwaku.’ Originally produced during the Covid-19 era, these films captured the hearts of cinema enthusiasts and showcased the duo's incredible comedic talents.
In a special interview with InyaRwanda, Boss Rukundo disclosed that the films were never entirely abandoned. Instead, their break was due to their involvement in various projects after the pandemic. He shared valuable insights into their plans for bringing the series back to life.
He emphasized: “I wouldn’t say we left the projects altogether—it’s one of the initiatives we worked on during the Covid-19 era. Afterward, people became involved in other various commitments, but Ben Nganji and I have been in discussions because, for men to team up and work together, it takes consistent communication.”
Fans of Rwandan cinema have been vocal in requesting new content from the pair, eagerly awaiting fresh episodes of the series that kept them entertained during challenging times.
Boss Rukundo recalled: “People have been asking us for a while now—it’s not just you. I even remember Nduwimana Jean Paul [Noopja], the founder of Country Records, called me and said, ‘Tell me what’s needed—what’s missing?’ What has hindered you from continuing with ‘Gatumwa’ and ‘Umunsi w’umwaku’? These were productions we acted in, and they were highly popular.”
The films highlighted the actors’ ability to depict everyday life through clever humor and relatable storytelling. Years after their initial release, fans are thrilled to hear that a revival of these comedic tales is underway.

As of now, Boss Rukundo and Ben Nganji are actively discussing plans to resume production. Their collaboration promises an exciting return to the laughter and charm that defined their earlier works.
