Rema Namakula Arrives in Kigali for The Ben’s “The Nu-Year Groove” Concert

Ugandan music star Rema Namakula has arrived in Kigali, Rwanda, ahead of her performance at The Ben’s highly anticipated concert dubbed “The Nu-Year Groove.” The show will also feature fellow Rwandan star Bruce Melodie.

Rema landed at Kigali International Airport in Kanombe on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, as preparations continue for the concert scheduled for Thursday, January 1, 2026, at BK Arena.

The singer last visited Rwanda on August 16, 2024, when she performed alongside The Ben in Musanze, in the Northern Province. Earlier that year, in February 2024, the two artists had also shared the stage in Kampala, Uganda.

Speaking to journalists upon her arrival, Rema expressed her excitement about returning to Rwanda. She also revealed that she is in talks with The Ben about working on a new song in the near future.

She emphasized that the BK Arena concert will be bigger and attract more fans than the Musanze show, promising an exceptional and memorable experience for music lovers.

Rema Namakula and The Ben previously collaborated on the hit song “This Is Love,” which significantly boosted their popularity in both Rwanda and Uganda. Thanks to the success and impact of the song, the two artists frequently invite each other to perform at major concerts.

“The Nu-Year Groove” concert is expected to be a special moment for Rwandan fans and visitors from across the region, as they enjoy performances by some of Africa’s top musicians sharing one stage.

Rema Namakula is one of Uganda’s most celebrated female artists, known for her distinctive voice and songs that explore themes of love and human emotion. She began her musical journey at a young age, first gaining attention through singing competitions and performances around Kampala, where she steadily won over a large fan base.

In recent years, Rema has gained international recognition through her Afrobeat, R&B, and Soul-infused music. She has released numerous hit songs and collaborated with prominent artists from the region, including Rwanda’s The Ben.

Her career is marked by performances at major concerts and international festivals, as well as collaborations with well-known artists on the global music scene. Driven by passion, vocal excellence, and strong teamwork, Rema Namakula has become a role model in East African music.

She continues to expand her musical reach by releasing new projects and touring different countries, demonstrating her determination to further establish her name on the international stage.
