Rayon Sports closed the 2024-25 Rwanda Premier League with a 1-0 win against Gorilla FC, finishing second with 63 points. Gorilla FC ended seventh with 40 points.

Rayon Sports wrapped up the 2024-25 Rwanda Premier League season with a decisive victory against Gorilla FC during Matchday 30, showcasing youthful energy and tactical adjustments as they prepared for the next season.

The team made a strategic choice to feature younger players in the match, acknowledging that the championship title was no longer a possibility. Their lineup included standout names such as Mugisha Yves, Emmanuel Kabange, Youssou Diagne, Omar Gning, Fabrice, Richald Ndayishimiye, Iradukunda Pascal, Ishimwe Fiston, Adoulai Jalo, Rukundo Abdulahaman, and Assana Nah Innocent.

Gorilla FC dominated early play, leveraging key performers like Nsanzimfura Keddy and Ndikumana Landry. In the ninth minute, Keddy delivered a powerful strike that was skillfully deflected by Rayon goalkeeper Mugisha Yves, who proved instrumental in maintaining parity during the early exchanges.

At the 20th minute, Yves once again showcased exceptional agility, blocking a crucial free-kick from Rutanga Eric, further solidifying his pivotal role in Rayon’s defensive lineup.

As the first half neared its conclusion, Iradukunda Pascal attempted to break through Gorilla FC’s steadfast defense, maneuvering skillfully to position himself for a potential goal. However, the opposition defenders were resolute, keeping the game goalless until halftime.

Rayon Sports approached the second half with renewed tactical adjustments, introducing Jesus Paul Sindi as a substitute for Assana Nah Innocent. Sindi revitalized the attack, forming an effective partnership with Iradukunda Pascal to generate opportunities. One notable moment was Sindi’s well-timed assist to Adoulai Jalo, though the latter missed the chance to score.

The stalemate finally broke in the 58th minute as Emmanuel Nshimiyimana, known as Kabange, found the back of the net to put Rayon Sports ahead. The goal proved decisive in securing the win.

Continuing their push for a second goal, Rayon brought in substitutions like captain Muhire Kevin and Prince Elenga Kanga. Despite their efforts and strong attempts by Adama Bagayogo, Gorilla FC’s defense held firm until the final whistle.

The match concluded with Rayon Sports claiming a 1-0 victory, closing the season in second place on the league table with 63 points. Gorilla FC finished in seventh place, amassing 40 points, as both teams now look forward to the upcoming campaign.
