Rayon Sports Signs Sponsorship Deal Worth Over Rwf5 Billion with Bank of Kigali

Rayon Sports has officially signed a new sponsorship agreement with the Bank of Kigali (BK) worth more than Rwf5 billion over the next five and a half years.

The partnership makes BK the club's principal sponsor, with the bank's logo set to appear on the front of Rayon Sports' jerseys.

The signing ceremony took place at Amahoro Stadium and was attended by officials from both sides, including Rayon Sports' interim president Murenzi Abdallah and BK's Chief Retail and Digital Banking Officer, Désiré Rumanyika.

Explaining the significance of the agreement, Murenzi Abdallah said the partnership goes beyond financial sponsorship, noting that it will also help Rayon Sports generate additional revenue through new BK products designed specifically for the club's supporters.

"In recent days, we sat down as the biggest club and the biggest bank to discuss how we could take our partnership to the next level. BK is a major institution, and we explored ways to bring its services closer to Rayon Sports fans," he said.

He added that the partnership is expected to transform the club's financial position.

"This partnership will change Rayon Sports' financial future. Although the agreement has a fixed term on paper, we hope it will last forever. In the past six months alone, BK has already provided us with more than Rwf170 million in sponsorship."

Murenzi revealed that the club expects to generate at least Rwf1 billion annually through the partnership.

He explained that the Rwf175 million already received covered the previous six months, meaning the club will receive about Rwf340 million per year in direct sponsorship, while additional income will come from the use of co-branded BK financial products.

As part of the agreement, BK will introduce a range of Rayon Sports-branded financial products, including the Gikundiro Card, personal accounts, business accounts, and savings accounts. The club will earn revenue whenever supporters use these products.

BK executive Désiré Rumanyika said the agreement represents a long-term partnership that will benefit both institutions.

"This partnership goes beyond sponsorship. It is a sign of trust. Bank of Kigali believes Rayon Sports has a bright future, and we are committed to helping the club grow both financially and operationally."

He added that negotiations took considerable time to ensure the partnership would deliver sustainable benefits in the years ahead.

The new agreement adds to Rayon Sports' existing partnerships with Jayrutty Investment, Skol Brewery Ltd, and Airtel Rwanda.

For the 2026/27 season, Rayon Sports plans to operate on a Rwf2 billion budget. Club officials say their primary objective is to build a competitive squad capable of performing well in the CAF Confederation Cup, while creating long-term financial sustainability through competition revenues and strategic sponsorships.
