Rayon Sports recently hosted Mukura VS at Amahoro Stadium for the second leg of the Peace Cup Semi-Finals, following a tight first-leg draw of 1-1.
The decisive moment came in the 73rd minute when Biramahire Abbedy scored the game-winning goal with an assist from Serumogo Ally. This 1-0 victory ensured Rayon Sports’ advancement with a 2-1 aggregate score. They now move on to face APR FC in the Peace Cup final.
However, the match did not end without controversy. Critics pointed out that Biramahire Abbedy might have been in an offside position when he scored the decisive goal, sparking widespread debate.
Oswald Oswakim, a prominent journalist, shared video footage of the goal on his X account (formerly Twitter). He defended the match officials, suggesting that the exceptional speed of play during the match could have made it challenging to judge accurately.
Minister of Foreign Affairs in Rwanda, Olivier Nduhungirehe, voiced a contrasting opinion. In a sarcastic response to the journalist, he questioned whether players in Rwanda’s Premier League could truly move faster than those in top European leagues.
He wrote: "So, is it true that in the Rwanda Premier League players move faster than those in European leagues?"
Notably, Olivier Nduhungirehe is an avid fan of Mukura VS. He was seen at the previous Mukura VS match against Rayon Sports, showing his allegiance to the team at Amahoro Stadium.
The much-anticipated Peace Cup final between Rayon Sports and APR FC will take place this Sunday, May 4th.

Minister Olivier Nduhungirehe expressed disapproval over the controversial goal scored by Rayon Sports in their Semi-Finals clash against Mukura VS.
