The football legends, Jay-Jay Okocha and Didier Domi, arrived in Rwanda this Sunday as part of the ongoing partnership initiated in 2019 between the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). This collaboration aims to showcase Rwanda's breathtaking tourism sites and attract international investment.

Their visit includes explorations of iconic locations such as the Volcanoes National Park, renowned for its stunning biodiversity, cultural museums depicting the rich history and traditions of Rwanda, and other scenic landmarks that reveal the beauty of the Land of a Thousand Hills.

Inside the Remarkable Careers of Jay-Jay Okocha and Didier Domi

Augustine Azuka, better known as Jay-Jay Okocha, was born on August 14 in Enugu, Nigeria. Known for his extraordinary ball control and flair, the midfielder with the number 10 jersey began playing football at Enugu Rangers in 1990. That year, he traveled to Germany, coinciding with their World Cup triumph, and trained with Bundesliga sixth-tier club Borussia Neunkirchen, eventually signing for them. One year later, he moved to 1. FC Saarbrücken, and by December 1991, he joined the prestigious Eintracht Frankfurt.

Jay-Jay played 90 matches for Eintracht Frankfurt, scoring 18 goals before transferring to Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahçe in 1996. His impressive two seasons at Fenerbahçe saw him score 30 goals in 62 matches, many of them memorable free-kicks. In 1998, PSG signed Okocha for a record-breaking fee of over 14 million euros, making him Africa's most expensive player at the time. He spent four impactful years at PSG, playing 84 matches and netting 12 goals. Additionally, Okocha played a pivotal role in mentoring emerging talent, including Ronaldinho.

Following the 2002 FIFA World Cup, Okocha moved to Bolton Wanderers. Although injury challenges limited his first season, he played for Bolton until 2006 before joining Qatar SC. In 2007, he signed with Hull City and later joined Durgapur Vox Champions, where he retired in 2013.

On the international stage, Okocha debuted for the Nigerian national team in 1993 and retired in 2006. He was instrumental in Nigeria's victory in the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations.

Exploring Didier Arsène Marcel Domi’s Career

Didier Arsène Marcel Domi, an adept left-back, was born on February 2, 1978, in Sarcelles, France. Domi began his professional football journey at PSG in 1996, playing 48 matches before his move to Newcastle United in 1998. His successful stint with Newcastle led to his return to PSG in 2001.

In 2003, Domi was loaned to Leeds United in England before transferring to Espanyol in Spain the following year. Later in 2006, he joined Olympiacos in Greece, playing until 2010, when he moved to New England Revolution in the United States, retiring in 2011. Over his career, Domi represented France at youth levels, ranging from Under-15 to Under-21 teams.

Currently, Domi works as a technical advisor for PSG’s youth team, nurturing future talents for the renowned club.
