Gospel singer and songwriter Prosper Nkomezi has released a brand-new song titled “Itegure.” The track, launched on the evening of Thursday, May 22, 2025, was teased extensively on his social media, giving fans a glimpse into its creation through behind-the-scenes photos and videos.
The song’s audio production was masterfully crafted by Producer Bruce, while the stunning visuals were directed by Musinga and edited by Eddie Cuts, ensuring a high-quality presentation.
In an exclusive interview with InyaRwanda, Nkomezi shared that he had been keeping a low profile as he focused on an ambitious goal: working on two albums simultaneously. He said, “I began working on two albums; one will be released this year, while the other will come out next year.”
This exciting announcement arrives just a year after he dropped two albums, “Nzakingura” and “Nyigisha,” on May 12, 2024. The albums were showcased in his celebrated concert, “Nzakingura Live Concert,” held at Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village (Camp Kigali).
Known for his uplifting gospel music, Prosper Nkomezi has become a prominent name in worship. His albums are filled with inspiring hymns and heartfelt messages, reflecting his unwavering devotion to God through music.
Nkomezi recalls a telling moment from his childhood when he creatively turned a broken water bucket into a makeshift radio just to listen to music more clearly. He considers this a symbol of his destined path in music ministry.
Raised in a Christian family, Nkomezi learned piano at a young age and began singing with the ADEPR choir before later joining Zion Temple. Reflecting on 2014, he described it as a pivotal year in his career, when his uncle, a pianist, helped him take his first steps as an independent artist. Nkomezi remembers how his uncle encouraged him to pursue music professionally after hearing him sing.
His debut single, “Sinzahwema,” was released in 2017 and gained widespread popularity. This milestone further fueled his passion for music. He once recounted how his songs were sung fervently in churches and other gatherings, even by people who didn’t know he was the artist behind them.
Over the years, Nkomezi has graced many stages and participated in notable concerts, including one by Vestine and Dorcas in 2022 and events in 2023 featuring Alex Dusabe and another at the University of Rwanda’s Huye Campus.
