President of the Republic of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, who is also a well-known Arsenal supporter, congratulated the club after it won the English Premier League title for the first time in 22 years.

The Head of State shared his message on X on Tuesday, just minutes after Arsenal officially secured the historic achievement.

He wrote: Congratulations to Arsenal, our #VisitRwanda partner, on being the Premier League champions after a hard fought season! A well-deserved title!"

Arsenal clinched the 2025/2026 Premier League trophy after AFC Bournemouth held Manchester City to a 1-1 draw.

Bournemouth took the lead through Eli Junior Kroupi in the 39th minute after an assist from Adrien Truffert, before Erling Haaland equalized deep into stoppage time in the 90+5th minute.

The result confirmed that even if Arsenal were to lose their final match of the season, they would still finish top of the table.

Arsenal currently sits first with 82 points, four ahead of second-placed Manchester City with only one game remaining before the season concludes.

Managed by Mikel Arteta, Arsenal last won the league title in 2004. The triumph brings the club’s total number of English league titles to 14.

President Kagame has been an Arsenal fan since 1996. He has often said he admires the club for its attractive style of football, whether it wins or loses.

In 2007, during President Kagame’s 50th birthday celebrations, former Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger presented him with a signed Arsenal jersey featuring signatures from all the players as a gesture of appreciation.

The relationship between the President and the club has continued over the years. In 2014, Arsenal also honored him with special gifts presented by former club captain Tony Adams.

Tony Adams revealed that Arsenal gifted President Kagame an official match ball and three Arsenal jerseys, including one customized with his name and the number one.

Arsenal and Rwanda also share a strong partnership. In May 2018, the Rwanda Development Board entered into a sponsorship agreement with Arsenal F.C. through the “Visit Rwanda” tourism campaign.

Rwanda became the club’s first-ever sleeve sponsor, with the “Visit Rwanda” logo appearing on the left sleeve of the senior men’s team, the Under-23 side, and the women’s team. The current sponsorship agreement is expected to end at the close of this season.
