This Sunday, the "Inkera y’Abahizi" football tournament, hosted by APR FC, reached its exciting finale at Amahoro Stadium. The event featured intense matchups, with Police FC defeating AS Kigali in a penalty shootout (5-4) in the opening game. Later, the final showdown between APR FC and Azam FC began at 6 PM local time.
The game saw APR FC kick off with impressive teamwork, spearheaded by striker Djibril Ouattara who created multiple chances near Azam FC's goal. However, Azam FC's goalkeeper, Zuberi Foba, delivered remarkable saves, keeping APR FC at bay.
In the 24th minute, APR FC was awarded a penalty after William Togui was fouled. Djibril Ouattara attempted the shot but was denied by a stunning save from Azam FC’s goalkeeper.
Azam FC capitalized on its defensive resilience and, just before halftime, opened the scoring. Zidane Sereri netted the first goal, benefiting from a mistake by Aliou Souane, who misplaced a pass to Ishimwe Pierre, leading to Sereri's breakthrough.
APR FC intensified their efforts in the second half, aiming to equalize. Despite their aggressive approach, Azam FC doubled their lead in the 54th minute with a strike from Yahya Zayd, ensuring a commanding advantage.
APR FC continued creating critical opportunities with players like Memel Dao and Djibril Ouattara at the forefront. However, they were unable to convert those chances into goals. The match concluded with Azam FC securing a 2-0 victory.
