Pastor Rutayisire Honored for His Work on Forgiveness
Pastor Rutayisire won the prestigious “Inzu y’Ibitabo Awards” for his impactful book titled “Reconciliation is my Lifestyle, A Life Lesson on Forgiving and Loving Those Who Have Hated You.”
First released in the United States in 2021 and later published in Rwanda in July 2022, the book spans 124 pages and delves deeply into his transformative journey of forgiveness and building toward reconciliation with those who hurt him.
Rutayisire explores how understanding forgiveness solidified his life foundation, drawing from personal experiences during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi and his global ministry success as an international preacher. The book’s message has resonated with diverse audiences globally.
A Celebration of Literature in Rwanda
The awards were part of the “Inzu Summit,” an initiative launched by Dashim, a Radio/TV10 journalist renowned for advancing literature and supporting writers in Rwanda.
Dashim stated, “These awards are about honoring individuals who enrich society through powerful life lessons captured in books.”
He added, “This initiative recognizes books like Pastor Rutayisire’s, proving that literature can be a unique avenue for reconciliation and emotional healing.”
Recognizing Other Authors
In addition to Rutayisire’s achievement, the summit distinguished other notable authors:
- Nzugu Gad: Known for his impactful YouTube insights and media contributions, he won the “Best Health and Wellness Author” award for his writings promoting mindful and healthy living.
- Nsanzabera Jean de Dieu: A historian specializing in Rwandan heritage, he received the “Best Historical Non-Fiction Author” accolade for his deep, insightful exploration of the nation’s history.
Impact of Rutayisire’s Work
Rutayisire, a preacher, author, and teacher with more than 40 years in ministry, has seen widespread appreciation for his book across diverse communities. “Reconciliation is my Lifestyle” is a key resource for organizations and faith-based conversations about forgiveness and healing.
He shared before, “The forgiveness lessons I encountered addressing ethnic diversity taught me these values matter everywhere—in workplaces, relationships, and communities. Societies need these teachings universally.”
The award highlights Rutayisire’s profound influence, proving literature is a tool capable of reshaping societies around ethical values and reconciliation.

Pastor Rutayisire’s “Reconciliation is my Lifestyle” was recognized as Book of the Year. He accepted the award from Eric Utuje, Head of Programs at Radio/TV10.

Nzugu Gad was also celebrated during the summit by receiving his award handed over by Martin.

Dashim, the mastermind behind the awards, emphasized fostering writers who positively influence societal growth.

Celebrated poet Nsanzabera Jean de Dieu earned the title of “Best Historical Non-Fiction Author,” presented by Florent.

Adding music to the literary event, rapper Ama G The Black performed tracks from his upcoming album “i Nyagasambu Rirarema.”

Ama G The Black also engaged participants in lively discussions with Dashim.

Comedian G-Tuff entertained attendees, adding humor to the summit’s enriching discussions and awards presentation.

Actor “Digidigi” along with artist “Kibuza” were prominent attendees who showed support for the literary initiative.

Poet Murekatete passionately contributed through discussions during the summit.

Veteran journalist and host Mike Karangwa supported founder Dashim by amplifying the event’s importance.
