Didier Mukezangango, popularly known as Didier Di4Di—host of the "Love & Life" program that supports youth, couples, and families—engaged in an insightful discussion with Pastor Désiré Habyarimana. Pastor Désiré, a passionate advocate for youth well-being, emphasized the importance of holistic upbringing and shared ways to empower young people, strengthen communities, and uplift God's kingdom.
Addressing parenting concerns, Pastor Désiré expressed that while most parents desire well-rounded values for their children, they often unintentionally neglect certain essential aspects by prioritizing material needs.
He stated: "When we see young people destroying the purpose for which God created them—their bodies or their lives—we should investigate the roots of the problem. In many cases, parents are absent due to their pursuit of income. However, I want to remind people that no amount of money can buy the humanity lost in their children's lives during their absence."
Pastor Désiré highlighted the role of family in shaping fundamental moral values, preparing individuals for healthy relationships, and teaching them the language of love.
He cautioned that missing out on family lessons often leads to difficulties in self-love, a lack of purpose, and engagement in destructive behaviors that harm society, families, and nations due to a lack of fear or accountability.
Social media's influence on youth was another focal point, as Pastor Désiré pointed out the negative impact of dysfunctional family portrayals. Many young people express reluctance toward marriage or opt to raise children without forming stable homes based on such representations.
He remarked: "Those who have happy marriages remain silent. People with successful families should speak up to confirm their existence. This would make a meaningful contribution towards helping youth build their futures."
Sharing hope for those who've lost their way, Pastor Désiré stressed that it is possible to rediscover purpose with guidance and positive influences. "If one feels regret, they still have a chance to make the right choices. All that's left is to get the support needed to break free. Some have fallen into harmful cycles involving alcohol, drugs, promiscuity, and other wrong paths. Their best choice is to change the people they surround themselves with and the content they consume on social media."
He underscored the significance of feeding the mind with positivity, as it directly influences decisions and behavior. "Nowadays, no one can survive without working. And our country still offers 105% opportunities," Pastor Désiré added.
