In an exclusive interview with InyaRwanda, Pacson revealed that his pioneering idea to unite rappers through collaborative songs aimed at resolving the deep-seated conflicts in the Rwandan Hip Hop community.
He explained, “Before bringing these artists together, the main reason behind it might have seemed unlikely. There were existing conflicts, ‘beefs.’ I thought, what if I brought Neg G The General and Riderman together, combining them in one song? That would be a great thing.”
Pacson brought this vision to life through popular tracks like ‘Revolution’, a song delivering a compelling message of unity among rappers.
This project spotlighted iconic names such as Riderman, Green P, P Fla, Diplomate, Holy Killer, Bull Dogg, and more. It became a milestone in reducing tensions and fostering collaboration within Rwandan Hip Hop.
Key songs that marked this initiative, like ‘Go Hard’, showcased Pacson’s effort to blend emerging and established artists, highlighting the importance of shared experience and collective growth irrespective of an individual’s career stage.
Another remarkable contribution was ‘Full Anti Virus,’ which united rappers to voice pressing societal challenges, demonstrating the power of Hip Hop as a tool for transformation.
While these songs resonated with audiences, Pacson expressed regret that some artists failed to recognize his critical contributions, questioning his ability to write and manage music independently.
He candidly remarked, “Artists didn’t value it. They thought I lacked the ability to write songs myself. Now it surprises me when they come to me and ask, ‘Can we do it again?’ I ask myself, ‘Why are you appreciating it now? Back then, you thought I couldn’t even create three songs or write on my own?’ I just decided to let it go.”
The Impact of Pacson's Project
By uniting rappers in exceptional collaborative songs, Pacson’s project left a lasting mark on Rwandan Hip Hop. It fostered teamwork, reduced conflicts, and opened doors for budding artists to collaborate with industry veterans.
The initiative also inspired producers and artists to spearhead similar projects, evident in later collaborations under prominent labels like Touch Records, Incredible Records, and other trailblazing contributors.
Although Pacson has since paused this movement, he stated that some fans and stakeholders continue encouraging its revival. “Many people ask me to restart the project, but I'll think about it,” he commented.
