P-Fla, one of Rwanda’s celebrated hip-hop artists, is set to perform at the highly anticipated Papa Cyangwe concert. This event marks five years of Papa Cyangwe’s journey in the music industry and will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Kigali Universe.
Reflecting on his friendship with Papa Cyangwe, P-Fla mentioned that they have been close even before his own music career began. Their bond played a crucial role in his decision to perform at Cyangwe’s album launch, titled “Now or Never.”
In an exclusive interview with InyaRwanda, P-Fla revealed a string of challenges he faced while working on his new album. Initially, he collaborated with various producers, but disagreements eventually disrupted the progress.
He shared, “There were constant disputes about who should take credit for certain things. Such conflicts forced me to put my work on hold.”
After taking a break to reassess his options, P-Fla was shocked to find that some producers had uploaded poorly mastered versions of his songs to music platforms without his approval. This betrayal deeply affected him.
The rapper expressed his frustration: “Some unreliable producers started releasing my songs without mastering them properly. I was appalled but realized only time would reveal the outcome.”
Determined to take back control, P-Fla made the bold move to restart his album from scratch. He joined Ibisumizi Records, led by Riderman, a fellow hip-hop icon in Rwanda, to ensure his project would be completed under better conditions.
"I started over and am working from the ground up. I’m incredibly thankful to Riderman and Ibisumizi for their support," he shared.
This upcoming album marks P-Fla’s first major release since the 2010 masterpiece “Naguhaye Imbaraga,” which was launched during a memorable event at Saint-André. At the time, he had the backing of prominent artists like Riderman, Tuff Gang, and Diplomate.
P-Fla fondly recalls his debut album as a cornerstone of Rwandan hip-hop history, showcasing authentic and pioneering sounds that continue to inspire fans to this day.
With this new project, P-Fla is taking a different approach. Instead of featuring numerous artists, he aims to reassert his individuality and creative independence.
“This isn’t about collaborating with many artists. It’s about proving that I haven’t lost my spark and showing the world that I can achieve greatness on my own. Whenever inspiration strikes, I dive into the studio and create,” he added.
The rapper emphasized that this album would steer away from current trends or collaborations with emerging artists. Instead, it will be a deeply personal project that reflects his growth and artistic identity. “This album is purely me—my style, my story,” P-Fla said confidently.
