This 27-year-old volleyball sensation made headlines during the Kenya Cup Tournament of 2025, where he earned the coveted award for best service performance, showcasing his extraordinary skills on the court.
Kipkirui now joins Police VC, stepping in to fill the gap left by Crispin Ntanteteri, who transitioned to Rwanda Energy Group (REG) on May 24, 2025. His arrival promises to bolster the team’s strength and competitive edge.
In this new chapter, Kipkirui—fondly known as Melly—brings deep international expertise to Police VC. He previously starred with Morocco’s IRT Tanger and earlier played for Club Olympia de Meknes (CODM), where his contributions helped secure back-to-back Throne Cup victories. His leadership in the final against FUS Rabat, culminating in a 3-1 set victory, won him the prestigious Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.
Kipkirui’s journey with Kenya's national volleyball team, the Wafalme Stars, began in 2017 at the African Championship in Cairo when he was only 19 years old. Guided by coach Moses Epoloto, Kipkirui quickly established himself as a standout player.
Since then, Kipkirui has been instrumental as a team leader, becoming a cornerstone of Kenya’s national volleyball team and raising the country’s competitive stature in African tournaments.
One of Kipkirui's most memorable contributions came in the 2021 African Championship held in Rwanda, where Kenya defied expectations by defeating volleyball powerhouse Egypt in an intense 3-2 set match. The victory secured Kenya an impressive 9th-place finish and cemented Kipkirui’s legacy as a game-changer for his nation.
