Noopja Exposes Hypocrisy in the Rwandan Music Industry and Calls for Action

Rwandan artist Noopja takes a bold stand against hypocrisy in the local music industry, criticizing individuals claiming false credit. He highlights the importance of meaningful contributions and calls for action to drive real progress.

In a strong message shared on his X account (formerly Twitter) on the night of Tuesday, June 3, 2025, Rwandan artist Noopja expressed his frustration with individuals falsely claiming they played a significant role in the development of the local music industry. Suggesting that the message targeted a particular person, Noopja remarked, “I trust they’ve already received it.”

He stated, “Those constantly claiming they’ve achieved a lot in Rwandan music are actually responsible for its downfall. They are divisive, greedy, opportunistic, creators of conflict, self-centered, destructive, and obsessed with fame and profit. Woe unto those who trust them.”

Noopja Criticizes “Claimants of History”

Noopja pointed out that some individuals, while appearing to be role models in front of cameras, often create conflict and pursue self-serving interests behind the scenes. According to him, these individuals try to position themselves as pillars of the music industry despite lacking genuine contributions.

“In front of cameras, they pretend to be kind and decent. But they are divisive individuals, greedy, constantly fighting with others, and primarily concerned with creating a good public image,” Noopja revealed.

In a later interview with InyaRwanda following his post that sparked widespread reactions, Noopja confirmed that the intended recipient had understood the message. He explained, “The person being addressed is well aware. Those who make the most noise are the primary divisive figures. I offer my thoughts, but, as the saying goes, when a message is addressed to many, only the intended recipient truly understands.”

Actions Speak Louder Than Words

Noopja emphasized that the growth of Rwandan music requires tangible actions rather than mere words or false claims of achievements. He remarked, “Heroism is not about words; it’s about actions.”

He elaborated further, “Take someone who nurtured a talent (an artist) from scratch, invested in them, and supported them versus someone who simply followed popular artists for attention. Who deserves the crown? How would you interpret that?”

His commentary ignited debates across social platforms, with some supporting his stance. Muyoboke Alex, a veteran artist mentor familiar with the industry’s dynamics, commented in agreement, “The truth eventually reveals itself, no matter how long it takes. Thank you for your honesty, legend.”

The Debate Over “Lens of History”

These discussions arise amid ongoing debates within the media and on social platforms regarding individual contributions to the advancement of Rwandan artists. Some people call for their efforts to be acknowledged as vital to the industry’s success.

On the other hand, Noopja argued that history should focus on concrete actions where an individual helped an unknown artist achieve success rather than superficial claims of involvement or proximity to success.

Noopja’s remarks shed light on ongoing challenges within the entertainment industry, particularly regarding false claims of achievements. He urged people to prioritize initiatives backed by tangible results and genuine impact rather than baseless declarations.

As an artist and entrepreneur, Noopja also stressed the importance of artists being grateful to those who made meaningful contributions to their growth rather than glorifying individuals who merely spoke a lot while contributing little.
