The 19-year-old attacking midfielder, known for supporting the forward line, spent nearly two weeks in Turkey training with NK Veres Rivne after receiving an invitation from the club to undergo trials.
After assessing his performance, the Ukrainian side was impressed with his quality and formally wrote to Intare FC, the club that owns his contract, expressing their desire to sign him and offer him an opportunity to play professional football in Europe.
In an interview with InyaRwanda, Niyo David confirmed that he has signed a five-year contract with NK Veres Rivne.
Before completing the move, Niyo was playing for Kiyovu Sports on loan from Intare FC. He has been one of the standout young performers in the Rwandan league this season, scoring three goals and providing four assists so far.
Recently, the promising midfielder also received his first-ever call-up to Rwanda’s senior national team.
Founded in 1957, NK Veres Rivne has competed in Ukraine’s top division at different periods in its history. The club earned promotion back to the Premier League in 2021 after winning the second division title. Last season, they finished 9th out of 16 teams in the league standings.
