From July 31 to Sunday, August 3, 2025, Namibia hosts the prestigious Pupkewitz Megabuild Windhoek Women Tour, classified as a category 2.2 cycling race. The competition has electrified the nation as top female cyclists battle for supremacy. Yesterday, the third stage unfolded on Kupferberg roads over a challenging distance of 75.8 kilometers.
In this pivotal stage, Rwandan cyclist Nirere Xaverine, riding for Team Amani, delivered an outstanding performance. Breaking away early from the group, Nirere outpaced her competitors, claiming victory with an impressive lead of 10 minutes and 35 seconds.
Following this triumph, Nirere has earned the yellow jersey, a symbol of excellence that now places her far ahead in the overall rankings. She holds a commanding lead of 9 minutes and 49 seconds over the second-place cyclist, Ethiopia's Asgodom Hadush Merhawit, who is also a part of Team Amani.
Nirere Xaverine, the talented sister of Ndayisenga Valens—himself a two-time Tour du Rwanda champion—is showcasing her exceptional skill and determination. Many now see her as the clear favorite to win the Pupkewitz Megabuild Windhoek Women Tour, which is slated to conclude this Sunday.
