In an interview with InyaRwanda, ‘Ndandambara’ revealed that the idea of having two wives is not new to him. He says it has been on his mind since he was young, inspired by his father.
“I wanted it from a young age. I wanted to be like my father. He worked hard and supported two wives, and I saw him as a good example of a capable man,” he explained.
He added that although he had long desired a second wife after marrying his first, circumstances and the lack of a suitable partner had delayed the plan.
‘Ndandambara’ emphasized that his decision to marry a second wife did not create conflict with his first wife, as he had always prepared her for the possibility. “My first wife was never opposed to this decision. We had discussed my personal reasons long ago, which gave me the confidence to marry a second wife,” he said.
He confirmed that both wives live harmoniously. On some occasions, they share meals with their children together. Sometimes, the first wife sends children to stay with the second wife, and at other times, the second wife visits the first wife’s home for family gatherings.
How He Met His Second Wife
‘Ndandambara’ said he met his second wife in 2022, when she was going through a difficult period. He decided to support her like a sibling, helping her train in the salon industry and even finding her a job.
“I helped her transform her life. She trained as a salon professional and now works at Spark Salon in Gisenyi. After all this, she fell in love with me and asked me to make her my wife,” he shared.
When the relationship became serious, he consulted his first wife, asking her to meet the second wife and discuss the situation. This meeting ultimately led to her approval for him to marry a second wife.
‘Ndandambara’ explained that both wives are independent but that he supports them within his means
“We live together harmoniously. I teach them to love each other. Sometimes they talk on the phone when I spend the night with one of them. I try to provide for them, even if resources are limited,” he said.
He also highlighted that both wives contribute differently to his music career. His second wife actively helps promote his work, including online challenges, and even appears in his music videos
“My younger wife is very active; she can appear in my videos. For example, I composed the song ‘Agatumbwe’ for her, and she will appear in the video,” he said.
Meanwhile, his first wife composed a song titled “Gurimugwe” for him, although she prefers not to appear in music videos due to her personal dislike of media exposure.
‘Ndandambara’ concluded that having two wives motivates him to work harder and achieve success. He affirmed that he loves both, as each has played an important role in his life.
“Both of them inspire me to work harder. I love them, and I am happy. It is not easy for any man to achieve what I have, being a recognized musician while also building and supporting a family,” he said.
