Mr. Kagame shared with InyaRwanda how a deeply emotional experience inspired him to compose the hit song "Iyo Foto." Despite being released three years ago, the rapper finally addressed his friend about the disrespectful actions displayed in front of some girls on that memorable night.
The rapper elaborated further on the incident, revealing that he had accepted an invitation from his friend, who promised to treat him to a drink. However, the evening took an unexpected turn when, just hours later, his friend suggested switching to a different bar.
He recounted the story, saying: "At the time, I was quite young. When I arrived, he was with some girls and suddenly decided to move to another bar, even though I had just settled in. He then asked me to get into the car, but I replied, 'Brother, could you let me finish my drink first?' He didn’t wait—he left."
Continuing his tale, Mr. Kagame explained, "He parked his car a short distance away and called for me, saying, 'We’re leaving, brother.' However, I felt deeply betrayed—he had pulled me out of my house only to change plans due to pressure from the girls to visit another venue."
The situation worsened as his friend began speaking loudly, explaining that he had already paid for Mr. Kagame's drink. He issued an ultimatum: follow along, or be left behind.
Mr. Kagame admitted that the experience left him hurt. Fueled by frustration, he headed straight to the studio to record "Iyo Foto," a song produced by the talented Evydecks.
He revealed that this was a unique challenge for him: at the time, he had a personal rule to avoid recording songs under the influence of alcohol. However, his anger and disappointment compelled him to break that rule and pour his emotions into the music.
The rapper recalled singing his verses, and shortly after, Danny Vumbi contributed the chorus to the song. He expressed gratitude, saying, “Danny Vumbi deserves much appreciation for his input. He joined the studio with Bruce Melodie, who added creativity by suggesting the inclusion of guitar elements."
Reflecting on the experience, Mr. Kagame shared an important lesson: trust must be earned. He decided not to depend on others for drinks, choosing to take responsibility for himself instead.

Through anger and heartbreak, Mr. Kagame entered the studio and created a powerful track that transformed his music career forever.

Danny Vumbi enhanced the song with his captivating chorus, while Bruce Melodie introduced a soulful guitar arrangement, adding depth to the track.
