The concert will take place on March 29, 2026, as part of festivities to celebrate the month of March, with the goal of entertaining Rwandans and audiences from various backgrounds.
While this is the fourth edition of Gakondo Connect, the organizers plan to make it an annual cultural event, expanding opportunities for traditional music and dance performances.
In recent months, artists like Ruti Joel, Muyango Jean Marie, and Mariya Yohana highlighted to Members of Parliament the importance of government support for traditional music events to help preserve the Kinyarwanda language.
The lineup for this year’s Gakondo Connect features both veteran and emerging artists. Performers include Massamba Intore, celebrated for decades of musical contributions; Mushabizi, known for his skill on the inanga; Layan Mpano, who gained fame with the remake of “Urugo ni urukeye”; Ikirezi Tania, Kellia, and Lauritha Munyana, as well as the Indinzi Cultural Troupe.
The event promises a unique experience for lovers of Rwandan music, offering a space to enjoy traditional rhythms, dance, and cultural expression alongside friends and family. Attendees will have the chance to dance along, sing with the artists, and showcase traditional attire and dances.
Ticket categories for the concert are divided into three tiers: Ingeli: 250,000 Frw for a group of eight; Rurangangabo: 20,000 Frw per person; and Intagara: 10,000 Frw per person
Organizers emphasize that the main goal of the concert is to preserve Rwandan culture, provide entertainment, and promote young traditional artists. Events like these help younger generations appreciate traditional music, dance, and cultural practices.
As one of the featured artists noted: "It’s valuable to see people excited about our music, loving it, and appreciating it. Gakondo Connect is a perfect opportunity to share culture and joy with everyone."
The concert will be a festive occasion filled with traditional rhythms, songs, and dances, offering attendees a memorable experience that celebrates and honors Rwandan cultural heritage.
