Renowned Rwandan traditional music artist, Massamba Intore, traveled to Morocco to perform for thousands of music fans at the festivities accompanying the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN 2025).

Massamba Intore, who recently released his new album “Mbonezamakuza,” departed from Kigali International Airport, Kanombe, on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, heading to Casablanca, where the events are being held.

He was accompanied by a group of traditional dancers, members of Symphony Band, and other collaborators who will support him on stage during his performances for the CAN 2025 audience.

In an interview with InyaRwanda, Massamba Intore said he was invited by CAN Event, the organization responsible for coordinating the events around the tournament, after they were impressed by his unique musical style.

He said: "They really loved the way I combine Afro-fusion with traditional Rwandan music. I’m very excited to represent Rwanda on this stage, and I’m proud to perform alongside my team, bringing honor and pride to our country."

Massamba Intore is scheduled to perform at the “Heirs of Greatness Day” celebration on Thursday, January 8, 2026, one of the activities designed to entertain and delight football fans attending CAN 2025.

Reports indicate that Massamba Intore and his team will also attend one of the tournament’s matches before returning to Rwanda, sharing the excitement of the competition with other African participants.

These accompanying events aim to showcase and preserve the cultural heritage of African nations through music, dance, and visual arts.

Massamba Intore’s participation highlights how Rwandan traditional music continues to transcend borders, elevating Rwanda’s cultural presence on the international stage.

CAN 2025: A Celebration of Football, Culture, and African Unity

The Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) is a prestigious football tournament that brings together national teams from across the African continent. Organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), CAN is held every two years and celebrates both high-level competition and African talent.

Alongside the tournament, cultural festivals and entertainment events are organized, featuring performances by artists from different countries, exhibitions, and discussions that promote African culture and values.

These festivities aim to connect football with art and culture, showcasing Africa’s heritage to the world while providing a platform for artists and performers to convey messages of unity, peace, and pride.

Through CAN and its associated events, Africa presents its true identity on the global stage, where sports, culture, and arts converge to build shared values and promote sustainable development.

Massamba Intore is scheduled to perform at the “Heirs of Greatness Day” celebration on Thursday, January 8, 2026
