Marina and Khalfan's Song Dispute: "We Made It" Sparks Tensions

Marina and Khalfan face controversy over their song "We Made It." Tensions rose when Marina released her solo track "Ndakurahiye," causing backlash. Read their side of the story!

Recently, social media was buzzing with debates triggered by Khalfan, who accused Marina of overshadowing their collaborative song by releasing her own single too early. The contested song, "We Made It," was jointly created by Khalfan, Marina, and Jay C, and has since become a point of tension between Marina and Khalfan.

In an exclusive interview with InyaRwanda, Marina addressed the allegations, claiming that Khalfan “acted selfishly” by accusing her of releasing her solo track "Ndakurahiye" soon after their collaboration. Khalfan also alleged that Marina didn’t adequately promote their song. However, Marina refuted his claims, stating, “I think Khalfan acted selfishly. He didn’t think it through. I had already seen that the song we worked on was performing well and wouldn’t be negatively impacted by my solo release. It wasn’t my intention to harm or disrupt our work together.”

Marina acknowledged that her decision may have hurt Khalfan, but explained it was driven purely by business considerations. She emphasized the importance of timing in an artist’s career, adding that she has the autonomy to release her projects when she finds it appropriate.

She commented, “Even though he took it poorly, I did what I felt was important as an artist. Since he is a friend and has always respected my musical journey, I’ve apologized to him. However, I won’t delete the song.”

Marina also highlighted Khalfan’s valuable contributions to her musical career, stating she views collaborations as deeply personal endeavors.

On the other hand, Khalfan shared his stance in another interview with InyaRwanda, revealing that he initially considered deleting Marina’s solo track as an act of retaliation. “I was very angry and thought about deleting her song,” Khalfan admitted. “But I chose not to because she’s like a sister to me, and people can watch her song instead.”

Khalfan claimed that before Marina released her solo song, he had requested her to delay its launch so they could prioritize promoting "We Made It." Marina, however, disregarded the plea and went ahead with her release, sparking further tension.

As they attempt to resolve these differences, Khalfan urged Marina to issue a more formal apology. He believes that reconciliation hinges on publicly acknowledging her actions. Despite considering each other like siblings, Khalfan admitted that their relationship might remain strained without a mutual understanding.
