Pastor P revealed his ongoing collaboration with Makanyaga Abdul on an upcoming album that features legendary songs written as early as 1970. These timeless tracks will soon be reintroduced to a new generation of fans, bridging decades of musical artistry. In an exclusive interview on InyaRwanda’s 'Echoes of Fame,' Pastor P shared insights into his 20-year journey as a music producer. Throughout his career, he has worked with numerous artists whose remarkable creations often remain unpublished or unheard.
"This often happens with many artists. Sometimes, a musician I collaborate with will tell me, ‘I love this song; I wrote it a long time ago,’” Pastor P explained. He also revealed the inspiration behind his current project with Makanyaga Abdul.
“Right now, I’m working on an album project where I asked Makanyaga, ‘Do you have any great songs you haven’t released yet?’ He told me, ‘I wrote this one in 1970, maybe 1978,’ and indeed, he has amazing unreleased tracks stored away,” Pastor P added.
The music producer also shared how Makanyaga occasionally performs these unreleased songs during live concerts, where audiences instantly connect and enjoy them. However, he noted that none of the tracks have been officially recorded, leaving fans unable to experience them beyond the concert scene.
As a veteran producer, Pastor P has built a solid reputation for creating high-quality, authentic music. He underscored his commitment to focusing on timeless production rather than chasing awards. His work often results in coherent tracks that leave a lasting impression on the music industry.
Highlighting his ethos, Pastor P referred to the hit song 'Ndagukumbuye' by King James. After being reminded of the song’s potential by the owner’s family, the producer crafted a version that dominated music charts and remains a fan favorite even today.

On July 4, 2023, Makanyaga celebrated 50 years of professional work in music. His legacy includes performing in an orchestra alongside famous figures such as the late Sebanani Andre. Their unique singing style and compositions were preserved through recordings at Radio Rwanda during the early years.
